Biography
Andrea Stroot, M.A.
 Piano Studio

Andrea C. Stroot holds a Master of Arts degree in music
​and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance
​from Florida Atlantic University, where she studied with
​Irena Kofman. She was the recipient of the university’s
​2008 music scholarship award from Frances Edelman and
​Adela Merbaum in recognition of excellence in musical
​studies, and an assistantship for teaching and accompanying.
​Her early undergraduate piano studies were with Tetyana
​Kuliush. Further studies include pedagogical work with
​Judith Burganger.

Since she began teaching privately in 2001, Stroot has been
​dedicated to instructing and guiding young pianists. Her studio
​was based in South Florida for 10 years through December 2011. 
S​ince opening her studio in North Carolina in 2012, she has
​enjoyed ​teaching students of all ages in this beautiful state. Her
​students ​have received regional honors and awards in MTNA
​competitions.

Her piano studio received a feature article in a 2006 publication of the WQCS classical music radio station of the Treasure Coast, where her spring studio recital was held and her solo performances have been broadcasted. Her studio received the front-page feature in a 2006 issue of the Fort Pierce Tribune, in which she was interviewed about her teaching style and musical education.

As a chamber musician, she has performed ensemble programs with vocalists and instrumentalists including piano duet and duo, violin, viola, cello, flute, guitar, trumpet, trombone, oboe, and clarinet. She has played with university and community orchestras, symphonies, and choirs. During the summer, she has coached ensemble studies for children in honors piano camps. While studying at Florida Atlantic University, she appeared in lecture and recital for continuing education courses, and taught courses in music history of western civilization and music theory at the undergraduate level.

She has played in master classes with Jean Barr, Eastman School of Music director of piano accompanying and chamber music, and performing and recording artists Philippe Entremont, Andre de Groote, and the Duo Turgeon. She has served as guest collaborative artist at various churches in South Florida, and developed and has offered a group music program for young children at Montessori schools in South Florida and North Carolina. Her master’s thesis research won first place in the FAU’s division of music, literature, theater and history, receiving a feature in university publications.

Her solo recital programs have included works such as
​J. S. Bach’s French Suite No. 4 in E-flat Major, BWV 815,
​Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 6 in B-flat Major, KV 238,
​Beethoven’s Sonata in E major, Op. 14, No. 1,
​Faure’s Nocturne No. 4 in E-flat Major, Op. 36, C
​harles Griffes’ The White Peacock, Op. 7, No. 1,
​and selections from William Bolcom’s Nine Bagatelles
​for Piano.  A few sound recording samples from Stroot's
live memorized programs ​are included to the right.

She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour
​Society and the American College of Musicians/National Guild of Piano Teachers.

Stroot is a passionate, expressive pianist and caring, enthusiastic instructor. In addition to music, her pursuits include the study of nature and a holistic approach to education. She holds an International Montessori teaching certification from the North American Montessori Center. Her long teaching experience in Montessori philosophy offers her music tutoring a hands-on approach as she tailors studies to build on students’ personal strengths and interests, fostering a lifelong love of music.
